Work placement:
The rules of conducting the practice comply with the Faculty Practice Regulations. They are an integral part of the curriculum and are not subject to classification.
Students conduct the practice in compliance with the schedule of the selected study course. The practice aims at practical verification of the theoretical knowledge gained during the studies or preparation for writing the diploma thesis.
Practice is organized in cooperation with external institutions/companies.
Graduation requirements:
Obtaining the learning outcomes and the required number of ECTS points specified in the education program, submitting and obtaining a positive grade for the diploma thesis and passing the diploma examination.
Graduate profile and further learning opportunities:
A graduate of SMS is prepared for the modern, extremely wide, and international job market, owing to substantive preparation and acquired skills. A graduate has basic knowledge in the field of science, and professional knowledge in engineering around construction and operation of ships and ocean engineering facilities. The student is prepared to perform typical engineering works related to the design, construction, technology of construction and repair of ships and ocean engineering facilities. The graduate can also organize and supervise production in shipbuilding plants; organize and carry out repair work on ships and ocean engineering facilities. The graduate is skilful in the operation of power plants and marine equipment, as well as in organizing engineering works and traffic supervision at offshore industry facilities. He is prepared to work in production and repair shipyards, plants cooperating with the shipbuilding industry, design and construction offices of the shipbuilding industry, and technical services of shipowners. In addition, the graduate has competences enabling him to be employed in research and development institutions of the shipbuilding industry and offshore industry enterprises, in offices that supervise and control the environmental hazards caused by the shipbuilding industry. The graduate has solid grounds to pursue masters course.
