Work placement:

4 weeks, 2 p. ECTS. The professional practice takes place in accordance with the faculty apprenticeship regulations. It is an integral part of the curriculum and is subject to credit.

Graduation requirements:

It is necessary to obtain 211 ECTS points by completing the subjects provided for in the study plan, complete the engineering diploma project and obtain positive grades from the tutor and reviewer for this project, pass the engineering diploma examination within the deadline set by the dean.

Graduate profile and further learning opportunities:

A graduate of biomedical engineering has practical knowledge in the field of bio-measurements and biosignals, microsystems, telemedicine, modeling of biomedical systems, information and communication techniques in medical applications, biomechanics, basics of physics and chemistry in medicine, but also the basics of anatomy and physiology, with a focus on modern methods diagnostics, therapy and rehabilitation. Is prepared for operation, design and research in the field of new technical systems for medicine; for diagnostics, monitoring, rehabilitation and therapy planning. May work in the professions of a clinical engineer or medical physicist. He is prepared to implement IT systems in health care, telemedicine systems, and to integrate hardware and software. His areas of interest include diagnostic equipment, IT and telemedicine systems, biomechanics applications, applications of biomaterials, tissue engineering, artificial organs and many other challenges in medical technology. The spectrum of the graduate's skills is so wide that he can easily find employment in the economy, services and science, not only in the field of biomedical engineering. In particular, however, a biomedical engineer is waiting for research and development centers, companies producing products and software, and providing medical services. Also laboratories, including analytical, hospitals, health care units, outsourcing companies, administration and large concerns, such as Siemens or Philips, but also Intel and Cisco, are open. The graduate is also prepared for employment in spin-off companies, where the results of scientific research and diploma theses are implemented. It is also prepared to create its own company, as the market of specialist products in the field of applications for the health system is extremely susceptible to any new and bold initiatives. The graduate is prepared to undertake second-cycle studies.
